Young Eagles

What is the EAA Young Eagles program?

The EAA Young Eagles program was launched in 1992 to introduce youths, ages 8 to 17, to the wonderful world of aviation through a demonstration flight.  Since 1992, more than 1.3 million Young Eagles have enjoyed a flight through the program. Young Eagles have been registered in more than 90 different countries and have been flown by more than 41,000 volunteer pilots.

To learn more, visit the EAA Young Eagles website.

What’s the flight like?

The flight will start out with your pilot introducing you to the airplane.  This might include talking about the airplane or conducting a preflight inspection and identifying the parts that control the airplane.

Once your pilot helps you in the plane and you are all buckled up it’s time to go flying!  The average flight lasts 15-20 minutes.  You will see the earth and sky in a new and exciting way and experience the wonderful freedom of flight that many people only dream about.

When you get back to the ground you receive a certificate and your name will go into the World’s Largest Logbook.  If you are like most Young Eagles, you’ll remember this experience for the rest of your life.

How much does it cost?

Young Eagle flights are provided free of charge!  Each event is run by an all volunteer group and each pilot covers 100% of his or her operating cost.  EAA provides all the materials to the local Chapters free of charge.

Without the hard work of all the volunteers this program wouldn’t be the great success it is.  Thank you volunteers!!
